Da Afghanistan Bank delegation meets IMF representatives
A delegation led by Mr. Wahidullah Nosher, first deputy governor of Da Afghanistan Bank participated July 21, 2018 talks on evaluation of implementation of Afghanistan-IMF Joint Economic Plan in Baku city of Azerbaijan.
In this meeting, besides the evaluation of Afghanistan's economic environment, both sides have discussed about successful completion of the third stage of joint economic plan. Meanwhile, the economic variables especially the implementation of quantitative objectives focused on strengthening and stability of macro-economy were discussed by the parties. At the same time, assessment of supervision of organizational reforms particularly aimed at strengthening financial and banking systems of the country, review of indexes and economic developments particularly macro-economic variables, inflation rate, balance of payment and foreign exchange reserves were among the topics discussed during this event.
In this evaluation, the performances of Da Afghanistan Bank and the government of Afghanistan in adopting and implementation of monetary and fiscal policies and managing foreign exchange reserves, as well as Afghanistan's achievements in keeping the stability in major economic indexes were praised by the IMF.
In the conclusion, the success of the current program in stability of Afghan economy was called significant and vital by the both sides.
It has to be mentioned that in addition to the delegation of Da Afghanistan Bank, representatives from the ministry of finance led by Mr. Najibullah Wardak deputy minister for revenues and customs and Mr. Christoph Duenwald IMF in-charge for Afghanistan with his accompanied delegation were also in attendance in this meeting.
