Training Workshop Held for Raising Staff Awareness on Islamic Banking
13 May 2015 – Da Afghanistan Bank’s financial supervision department held a training workshop on Islamic banking and its course of activities for DAB’s Sharia board members, financial supervision staff, Islamic banking staff and commercial banks’ Sharia board members.
His Excellency Essa Khan Turab second deputy governor while inaugurating the workshop explained the importance of Islamic banking in the country and said, that services and activities of the Islamic Banking alongside the conventional banking that operates advantageously for more than a decade is very important for the banking sector.
H.E Essa Turab added that Islamic banking services are provided as per Islamic Sharia principles sans interest wherein people undertake both gain and loss. Banks transfers its Islamic banking-related deposits to businessmen and investors in light of Islamic principles and laws that rigorously require them to act upon Islamic laws.
Similarly, His Excellency Turab also expressed that Da Afghanistan Bank as the Central Bank of Afghanistan has managed to prepare and submit the Islamic Banking Law to the National Assembly. Before approval, a number of pre-training and awareness-raising workshops were conducted on preliminary Islamic Banking matters for the banking sector staff which, without doubt, served an essential role in gearing up staffers for Islamic Banking debut.
It is pertinent to mention that this workshop covers training of 60 staff which is yet to complete on 27th May this year.
