E-Payment for Custom Duties Launched
Kabul – 23 May 2015- An agreement was signed on electronic payment of custom duties between Da Afghanistan Bank and Ministry of Finance.
H.E Essa Khan Turab Second Deputy Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank while signing this agreement said that e-payment of custom duties will connect private and state-owned banks and this will help increase safety, speed and transparency in transfer and collection of custom revenues.
H.E Turab added that launch of this system will raise banking transactions which, in turn, will put positive effects on the country’s economy.
Deputy Minister of finance for revenues and customs, Gul Maqsood Sabet, said that purpose of introducing this system not only is to improve custom revenues collection, but also to establish transparency and convenience for traders and, primarily, reduce corruption. According to Mr. Sabet, so far custom duties are collected in the form of physical money which is bearing challenges, but activation of this system would avoid corruption and waste of time.
