Da Afghanistan Bank: Efforts Underway to Promote Access to Mortgage Loan

24 May 2015 – Da Afghanistan Bank held a single day awareness workshop on mortgage loan for commercial banks, ministry of urban development, microfinance investment support facility for Afghanistan (MISFA), Kabul municipality and DAB mortgage department staff.

His Excellency Khan Afzal Hadawal, acting governor and the first deputy of Da Afghanistan Bank while inaugurating this workshop said, considering the population growth and Afghan refugee repatriations to country, there is a must need for accommodation. For this reason, Da Afghanistan Bank strived to develop a mortgage regulatory framework and thus a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was signed between Harakat organization and the international financial corporation (IFC).

H.E Hadawal added that arrangement of such training workshops for commercial banks and other concerning entities comprise part of this MoU and as a result, awareness and knowledge of staff and public on mortgage loan will be enhanced which With the conduct of this drive, part of public needs to residence will be met in the long term through providing mortgage loan via commercial banks.

It is notable that this training workshop covered information on mortgage loan mechanism, Property pricing and other matters related to mortgage loan.
